What role you will play in our team

The Advanced Socioeconomic and Human Rights Advisor provides strategic support to a project, operating facility or business unit, working independently on routine issues with minimal guidance and making impactful decisions based on skills and experience. The Advisor collaborates with cross-functional teams to plan and execute projects and initiatives, while managing risks and maximizing opportunities for mutual benefit to the company and the communities in which it operates. The Advisor will also collaborate within the team to create and refine processes and tools that promote effectiveness and consistency across the practice. 

What you will do

  • Advise on complex Socioeconomic and Human Rights-related issues and the application of regulatory requirements, internal and external policies, standards and frameworks at an operating asset, business unit or project
  • Support or lead the identification and assessment of Socioeconomic and Human Rights aspects, impacts and mitigations associated with business activities
  • Develop strategies and initiatives for Socioeconomic Management, including: 
    • Human Rights
    • Community Engagement and Grievance Management
    • Cultural Heritage
    • Indigenous peoples
    • Community Health, Safety and Security,
    • Land Use, Resettlement and Livelihood Restoration
    • Local Economic Development
  • Perform Socioeconomic and Human Rights-related fieldwork, including engagement, research and consultation
  • Manage data associated with implementation of Socioeconomic and Human Rights programs and initiatives.
  • Develop written content to support projects and initiatives
  • Develop strategic relationships with communities and local leaders
  • Ensure effectiveness of grievance management processes
  • Develop and monitor fit-for-purpose performance metrics
  • Provide support for the development and refinement of practitioner training and provide Socioeconomic Management guidance to non-practitioners

About you

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required, in Social Sciences/ Sciences/ Engineering
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in oil & gas, petrochemical or mining sector
  • Maintains a high degree of ethical conduct
  • Willingness to travel (business trips) and relocate to project locations
