What role you will play in our team
We are continuing to expand our Global Trading organization and analytical capabilities. We are seeking an experienced Senior Gas Trading Analyst to join our North American Gas Trading team.
This role will work closely with traders, quantitative analysts, originators, and commercial stakeholders to support trading, optimization, and portfolio management activities across North American natural gas markets.
The successful candidate will develop market views, perform fundamental and quantitative analysis, identify commercial opportunities, and support trading decisions across regional and national gas markets. The role sits at the intersection of market fundamentals, analytics, and commercial strategy.
What you will do
You will provide market expertise, fundamental analysis, statistical modeling, and opportunity identification to support natural gas trading activities. Key responsibilities include:
- Researching, analyzing, and interpreting North American natural gas market fundamentals
- Developing short-, medium-, and long-term market views and forward price outlooks to support trading strategies and portfolio positioning
- Monitoring natural gas supply, demand, storage, LNG exports, industrial demand, power burn, and weather-driven consumption trends
- Analyzing pipeline flows, transportation constraints, basis markets, and regional pricing dynamics across major North American gas hubs
- Identifying trading opportunities arising from regional dislocations, infrastructure constraints, changing market conditions, and evolving supply and demand balances
- Supporting optimization of transportation, storage, and commercial positions across the portfolio
- Developing and maintaining analytical models used to evaluate market fundamentals, price formation, and commercial opportunities
- Building and enhancing Python-based analytics, forecasting tools, and reporting capabilities
- Conducting scenario analysis, sensitivity testing, and market impact assessments
- Supporting the evaluation of structured transactions, transportation agreements, storage opportunities, and asset-related commercial activities
- Producing clear and concise market commentary and analysis for traders and commercial stakeholders
- Collaborating with trading, quantitative, risk, and data teams to enhance market understanding and decision-making processes
- Identifying new analytical approaches, datasets, and technologies to improve trading performance and commercial outcomes
What you will bring
- Degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related quantitative discipline
- Experience analyzing North American natural gas markets within a trading, utility, producer, merchant, consulting, or financial organization
- Strong understanding of natural gas market fundamentals, including supply, demand, storage, LNG, pipeline infrastructure, transportation markets, and regional basis dynamics
- Experience developing market forecasts, analytical models, or commercial insights used to support business decisions
- Experience supporting trading, portfolio management, optimization, or commercial strategy activities
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis and modeling
- Experience working with market data, forward curves, and large datasets
- Ability to translate analysis into actionable trading and commercial insights
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
