ExxonMobil's state-of-the-art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors.

What role you will play in our team

The Business Development Advisor is a Senior Expert-Level role with a unique opportunity to help shape the future of technology commercialization. Positioned at the intersection of business development, intellectual property, licensing, regulatory strategy, and commercialization, this role plays a critical part in advancing innovative solutions from concept to market. The successful candidate will evaluate, structure, negotiate, and execute opportunities spanning emerging technologies, lower-emission fuels, strategic partnerships, venture investments, and customer-focused commercial offerings. This role is based in Spring, Texas. 

What you will do

  • Lead evaluation and maturation of strategic growth opportunities from concept through commercialization.
  • Structure and negotiate licensing, technology, collaboration, supply, offtake, and commercial agreements.
  • Assess regulatory, market, competitive, intellectual property, and execution considerations that influence investment decisions.
  • Develop commercial strategies, business cases, economic models, and value creation plans.
  • Work with technology, commercial, project, legal, finance, and business teams to align stakeholders and advance opportunities.
  • Support strategic transactions including partnerships, joint ventures, acquisitions, divestitures, and venture investments.
  • Provide thought leadership and contribute to process improvements, tools, and best practices.

 

About you

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced business, legal, engineering, or technical education is valued.
  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience in licensing, intellectual property, commercialization, business development, strategy, energy, chemicals, manufacturing, or related industries.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating and managing complex commercial arrangements.
  • Strong financial, analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to influence decisions across organizations and lead through collaboration.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Energy industry experience, including research and market analysis related to commercial and energy transition activities.
  • Ability to effectively manage interpersonal relationships across multiple functions and in a diverse work group.
  • Exhibits deep curiosity, demonstrating strategic thinking to drive long term growth.
