About the Permian

 

Straddling West Texas and Southeastern New Mexico over an area roughly the size of Kansas, the Permian is the most prolific oil and gas basin in America and the engine behind the country’s energy renaissance. Nationally, it provides about 40% of oil and 15% of gas production and plays a critical role in making the U.S. a leading energy exporter.


A key asset for ExxonMobil, the Basin accounts for about 40% of the Corporation’s net oil and gas production in the U.S. in 2021, with significant future growth potential. Production reached more than 550,000 barrels per day in 2022 and is expected to surpass 800,000 barrels per day by 2027. Many of these molecules travel down to ExxonMobil’s facilities along the Gulf of Mexico, where they are transformed into high-value finished products such as jet fuel and lubricants. The Permian Basin business unit also has the distinction of being the first at ExxonMobil to unveil and execute a plan for net zero Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions in operated assets by 2030, as part of the Corporation’s broader 2050 net zero ambition.

What role you will play in our team

 

We are looking for an individual who specializes in multiple forms of Artificial Lift knowledge, including ESP, Gas lift and Rod Pump. This individual will be key in surveillance and optimization of AL systems to help optimize value to the corporation. The individual should have a working knowledge of design and be able to evaluate designs appropriately. The individual will need to be strong in collaboration as they work cross-functionally. This role will support our Delaware Texas operations and office in Monahans Texas with the need to perform field visit/work in field locations. 

What you will do

 

  • Provide surveillance and optimization of all Artificial Lift systems in assigned area, to result in the optimal reliability and volume.
  • Provide technical guidance on designs of upcoming downhole system installation. 
  • Perform root cause failure analysis, in collaboration with SMEs and Engineering to improve the function of AL systems. 
  • Ability to understand profitability and high-level economics to help make sound judgements and provide data for Production to manage budget, regarding Artificial Lift systems. 
  • Collaborate with peers and cross-functionally to deliver the highest value opportunities to the corporation. 

About you

 

We are looking for someone who has a strong finance/ IT background and has the following qualifications:

 

Skills and Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Must have excellent communication and collaboration skills with ability to work with Engineering, Production Leadership, Field Personnel, and Vendors. 
  • Should possess good computer skills in Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint.. 
  • Advanced understanding of various Artificial Lift systems (ESP, Gaslift, Beam and Plungerlift) 
  • Understanding and support of root cause failure analysis. 
  • Demonstrate ability to perform all job duties with minimal direct supervision. 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • 5+ years work experience in Artificial Lift specialty with focus in Unconventionals preferred.
  • Additional skills in Business Intelligence tools such as Spotfire or surveillance/optimization tools such as XSPOC a bonus. 
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
