What role you will play on our team
ExxonMobil's Medicine and Occupational Health (MOH) Department is a multidisciplinary team providing the full suite of occupational health services to the organization. ExxonMobil is seeking a qualified and experienced Occupational Health (OH) Registered Nurse to support clinical decision-making and local execution of MOH priorities.
This position is located in Midland, TX and is a newly established role to support existing occupational health operations in the Permian Basin. This is an opportunity to join the MOH team in the Permian as we strengthen local support for a geographically dispersed workforce across West Texas and Southeast New Mexico. All responsibilities are performed in alignment with MOH guidance, internal protocols, and applicable local regulatory requirements. Services are provided within the professional scope and standards of state Registered Nurse licensure.
What you will do
Clinical Support
- Provide occupational health support across the Permian Basin to a geographically dispersed workforce operating across multiple business lines.
- Manage work‑related injuries and illnesses, including initial clinical assessment, follow‑up, and return‑to‑work coordination.
- Conduct fitness‑for‑duty evaluations and review external medical documentation to support job‑specific work recommendations.
- Review, follow up, and clear occupational medical evaluations performed externally, including pre‑placement exams, mandatory medical exams, hearing shifts, and respiratory medical clearances.
- Review return‑to‑work determinations for short-term disability and support appropriate work placement and restrictions.
- Review and manage medication disclosures and aftercare cases in alignment with MOH guidance.
Operational & Program Support Responsibilities
In addition to direct clinical services, this role supports the execution of occupational health programs and priorities for the Permian Basin. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with Industrial Hygiene, Safety, Human Resources and Business Line stakeholders to protect and promote worker health.
- Support the implementation of Medicine and Occupational Health (MOH) initiatives, standards, and programs across the Permian Basin.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with external occupational health, specialty, and community providers across the Permian Basin.
- Provide operational support and subject-matter input for activities that advance employee health, regulatory compliance, and business continuity, within the defined scope of MOH services.
About you
Skills and Qualifications
- Hold an active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Nursing degree (BSN preferred)
- Be willing and able to travel for day trips (up to 3 hours drive one way) throughout West Texas and Southeast New Mexico (1-4 times a month), with occasional overnight travel to Carlsbad (1-2 times a year)
- Be comfortable working in non-clinical environment with regular interaction with operations teams, safety personnel, and external medical providers
- Demonstrate proficiency with electronic medical record systems and Microsoft Office applications
