What role you will play in our team
A Terminal Technician is responsible for the day-to-day operations at the ExxonMobil Memphis Terminal (Memphis, TN). This includes the receipt of refined petroleum products into storage, and oversight of the delivery operations for those products to customers. Technicians must be willing to work in the proximity of various hydrocarbon products, electrical circuits, and machinery and perform various maintenance and repair tasks. Technicians typically work weekdays, with regular “on call” requirements for nights, weekends, and holidays. Shifts may change based on operational demands.
What you will do
- Maintain an incident free workplace by use of various Company safety programs.
- Follow all environmental and regulatory protocols to ensure compliance.
- Read and understand terminal flow and pipeline alignment drawings in order to properly open/close valves for directing product flow.
- Accurately measure various products, direct pipeline movements, and maintain the loading rack for 3rd party drivers.
- Utilize computer software to perform various data input, product tracking and reporting, and company communications.
- Perform facility maintenance, including but not limited to valve maintenance, loading rack repairs, grounds upkeep, housekeeping, etc.
- Participate in safety meetings, trainings, and emergency response drills. Respond to actual emergencies as needed.
- Terminal Technician daily duties can consist of but are not limited to:
1. Loading Rack Surveillance (Driver Certification & Observations, Alarm Management, General Troubleshooting, etc.)
2. Pipeline receipt management and interfacing with remote control center
3. Product quality assurance (Product Sampling / Testing, etc.)
4. Product Inventory (Volume Measurement and input/tracking)
5. Daily Inspections and Facility Walk Around
6. General Filing and Data Entry
7. Maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment
8. Site Contact for various safety/security/health/environmental systems
About you
Skills and Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a consistent safe work ethic.
- Safe driving skills and a valid driver's license, and able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
- Willing and able to act as a Qualified Individual (QI), which includes answering calls during any 24-hr. period and acting in the event of an actual emergency.
- Able to stand for extended periods of time and lift 50 lbs.
- Able to work effectively both alone and with others.
- Able to operate hand tools or other equipment to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Willing and able to ascend stairs to the top of storage tanks (~50 ft) to perform gauging or other work.
- Willing and able to work both indoors and outdoors, in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures.
- Willing and able to work holidays, weekends, overtime, and coverage for coworkers; the position requires scheduled on-call/call-out periods.
- Willing and able to attend and successfully complete required training courses; these may occasionally be conducted off-site, and travel may be required for short periods of time.
- Willing and able to comply with the site’s requirements for safety equipment and respirator use; this requires shaving facial hair when appropriate.
- Able to plan daily work activities in accordance with established Company and Regulatory procedures.

- Previous experience in maintenance or oil & gas / similar industries
- Demonstrated ability to work in a small team environment
