In this role, you will work closely with freight traders, LPG traders, chartering teams, originators, and risk professionals to evaluate vessel supply and demand fundamentals, freight market dynamics, voyage economics, and market disruptions. You will contribute to the development of actionable market views and analytical solutions that support both physical and derivative freight trading strategies in a fast-paced and evolving global shipping environment.

What you will do

  • Monitor and analyze global LPG freight markets, including vessel supply and demand balances, fleet utilization, vessel availability, trade flows, and freight rate movements.
  • Develop and maintain freight market models linking vessel supply, cargo demand, trade flows, route economics, and freight pricing dynamics.
  • Analyze key drivers impacting LPG freight markets, including fleet growth, export and import demand, vessel positioning, port congestion, canal transit constraints, weather events, and geopolitical developments.
  • Conduct short-, medium-, and long-term freight market forecasting to support physical and derivative freight trading activities.
  • Evaluate voyage economics, shipping arbitrage opportunities, fleet utilization trends, and freight market dislocations to identify actionable trading insights.
  • Partner closely with freight traders and LPG traders to develop market views and support trading strategy development.
  • Perform scenario analysis, back-testing, and validation of freight market assumptions, forecasts, and trading strategies.
  • Utilize and enhance analytical tools incorporating vessel tracking data, AIS data, port intelligence, freight market data, and macroeconomic indicators.
  • Serve as a key user and contributor to freight optimization, analytics, and trading support platforms.
  • Assess the impact of regulatory developments, geopolitical events, environmental regulations, and market disruptions on freight market fundamentals and pricing.
  • Provide economic analysis of freight assets, transportation agreements, and freight-linked commercial opportunities.
  • Produce market commentary, presentations, and analytical reports that communicate market developments and trading opportunities to commercial stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with traders, analysts, quantitative teams, and commercial stakeholders to improve market intelligence and analytical capabilities.
  • Support ad hoc commercial analysis, strategic projects, and special initiatives across the trading organization.

What you bring

  • Experience working with large datasets, including vessel tracking data, AIS data, freight market data, trade flow data, and market intelligence sources.
  • Familiarity with freight rate benchmarks, vessel performance metrics, shipping market indicators, and commercial shipping operations.
  • Ability to synthesize complex market data and communicate insights effectively to trading and commercial stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced trading environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams while managing multiple priorities.
