As a Production Planning Model Derivation Engineer, you will support the development and maintenance of process planning models used to represent manufacturing plant operations. You will work alongside experienced engineers to build simplified, data-driven models derived from detailed process simulations, helping enable effective planning and optimization decisions. This role offers the opportunity to develop strong analytical, modelling, and problem-solving skills within a collaborative technical environment.

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain simplified production planning models derived from detailed process simulations, ensuring accuracy and reliability for operational planning
  • Apply statistical and data-driven techniques (e.g. Design of Experiments, regression modelling) to generate robust and representative models
  • Use data analysis tools to evaluate input relationships, validate outputs, and ensure model quality (e.g. correlation analysis, validation plots)
  • Support the build and deployment of new models for manufacturing facilities and improvement projects
  • Follow established modelling standards, methodologies, and documentation practices to ensure consistency and quality
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, and planning) to troubleshoot modelling issues and improve model performance
  • Assist in analysing process data and translating it into usable planning models
  • Contribute to technical reviews, documentation, and reporting for model development work
  • Build knowledge of industry-standard process modelling tools and applications used in refining and petrochemical operations

About you

  • 2 – 6 years of relevant experience in process engineering, modelling, data analysis, or production planning
  • Fundamental understanding of chemical process principles, mass and energy balances, and plant operations
  • Basic knowledge of statistical analysis and data modelling techniques (e.g. regression, Design of Experiments)
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools such as JMP, Python, MATLAB, or similar platforms
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex datasets and translate them into actionable insights
  • Ability to work in a structured environment with adherence to technical standards, procedures, and documentation practices
