ExxonMobil in Malaysia
In Malaysia, we host a global business and technology center in Kuala Lumpur that provides high-level information technology and engineering expertise to ExxonMobil’s Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses worldwide. In the upstream, we have interests in two Production Sharing Contracts with PETRONAS, while in the Product Solutions business, we supply a portfolio of specialty chemical products to the marketplace.
What role will you play in the team
ExxonMobil is seeking qualified and experienced individuals to provide Geoscience technical support and expertise to oil and gas development projects and production operations. The candidates will be responsible for working with multi-discipline teams to support optimal asset development and operations, leveraging fundamental Geoscience skills in reservoir description, development planning, opportunity generation, and production optimization.
What will you do
Individuals will provide integrated reservoir modeling support to global asset teams in the following areas:
- Integrated Geoscience interpretation for resource description and reservoir characterization; includes subsurface mapping, well log analysis, qualitative and quantitative seismic interpretation, sequence stratigraphy, and structural analysis
- Integration of production and reservoir engineering data to support depletion planning and reservoir management strategies
- Opportunity generation including planning, evaluation and/or execution of field development / drill well programs / wellwork opportunities
About you
Skills and Qualifications
We are seeking experienced geoscientists to join an integrated, multi‑disciplinary team, delivering subsurface insights that inform asset and business decisions. The role requires self‑motivation, sound technical judgment, strong collaboration across disciplines, and clear technical communication.
Technical requirements for this role are as follows:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, or Earth Sciences
- 5–10 years of upstream oil and gas experience, preferably supporting development and producing assets
- Strong fundamentals in reservoir characterization and opportunity generation, including well log interpretation, subsurface mapping, geophysical interpretation, and volumetric assessment
- Demonstrated ability to integrate geological, geophysical, production, and reservoir engineering data to inform asset decisions, including production optimization and field development planning
- Practical experience supporting field development activities, including drilling or well intervention planning and post‑execution evaluation
- Experience in quantitative seismic interpretation, and / or building and interrogating static reservoir models including calibration to dynamic data and uncertainty analysis (advantageous)
