ExxonMobil in Malaysia

 

In Malaysia, we host a global business and technology center in Kuala Lumpur that provides high-level information technology and engineering expertise to ExxonMobil’s Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses worldwide. In the upstream, we have interests in two Production Sharing Contracts with PETRONAS, while in the Product Solutions business, we supply a portfolio of specialty chemical products to the marketplace.

What role you will do

The Air Emissions Engineer - Advanced applies solid engineering judgment, developing leadership skills, and growing technical mastery to:

  • Provide intermediate‑level technical support to operating assets, including analyzing air emissions data, optimizing control strategies, and troubleshooting equipment under guidance from expert
  • Support the evaluation, piloting, and rollout of new or improved air emissions measurement, monitoring, and reduction technologies
  • Contribute to the development, design, engineering, and commissioning of projects, providing air emissions engineering support for both general projects and those with emissions reduction technology scope\
  • Develop strong working knowledge of technology and engineering fundamentals for air emissions
  • Develop guidance and tools for estimating and measuring air emissions from sources across ExxonMobil global operations.
  • Provide troubleshooting and operating guidance for air emissions control technology at Oil and Gas and Petrochemical facilities.
  • Develop strategies for the selection of air emissions and control technology for projects that meet economic, regulatory, and sustainability targets.
  • Collaborate with other global technology experts and project teams to evaluate, develop, and deploy air emissions estimating, measurement, and control technologies.
  • Proactive collaboration and contribution to assigned teams including technical guidance and mentoring to engineers working on air-related initiatives.
  • Visits to operating sites and other international travel as required, not limited to support operations, project execution and stakeholder engagements.

    This role is expected to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders (operations, SHE, projects) & external parties (vendors, consultants) and assist in developing less experienced engineers through knowledge sharing & peer coaching. The Air Emissions Engineer - Advanced will begin demonstrating leadership behaviors, including facilitating less-complex technical efforts, influencing peers, and contributing to technical decisions. The Air Emissions Engineer - Advanced engineer has regional impact, supports multiple assets, and begins contributing beyond site‑level issues. The role represents the transition from a developing engineer to an emerging technical leader, while receiving guidance from the Air Emissions Engineer - Expert.

What role you will play in the team

  • You will be part of our exciting and rapidly expanding Kuala Lumpur Environmental team working and collaborating on a global scale providing advanced technical support to ExxonMobil global operations.
  • As an experienced Advanced Air Engineer, you will provide engineering expertise to support across our global operations including new projects, focusing on air emissions estimating, monitoring and air control technologies.

About you

  • B.S. in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 – 10+ years of experience in developing air emissions estimates, monitoring and/or air controls technologies; experience in the oil and gas or petroleum industry is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in operating, designing, and/or troubleshooting air emissions control technology which may include Flare, Selective Catalytic Reduction, Wet Gas Scrubbers, Electrostatic Precipitators.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in estimation and measurement of air emissions, and monitoring programs/technology such as CEMS, PEMS, OGI
  • Hands-on experience working directly with plant operators and site teams
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate, identify root causes and implement practical, data-driven solutions to solve complex problems and implement improvements.
    • Fluency in English is required both written and communication skill.
    • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule to support multi-cultural global teams, including participation in early morning and evening virtual meetings.
    • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
