Job Role Description

The associate Lab Process and Design Engineer is responsible for the design, development, operation, and continuous improvement of laboratory and pilot-scale systems. This advanced-level role combines deep technical expertise with hands-on operational responsibility, ensuring that systems are safe, efficient, and delivering according to research and scale-up goals. The engineer leads complex engineering projects, mentors junior staff, and plays a key role in translating process concepts into functional, real-world systems

Job Role Responsibilities

- Supports development of project PFDs, P&IDs and plot plans
- Supports design of laboratory mechanical, electrical, piping, ventilation and data systems
- Performs QA / QC on project construction
- Specifies and selects equipment such as pumps, vessels, and instrumentation needed to meet project deliverables
- Provides support and technical work direction to trades during construction phase as needed
- Delivers routine and troubleshooting support for pilot plant and lab operations
- Review and support site management of change, and continuous improvement activities
- Serve as designated backfill for production engineering duties
- Maintains clear and consistent communication with scientists and team members to ensure effective collaboration, timely updates, and alignment of project goal
- Knows and adheres to operational integrity by consistently following safety protocols, quality standards, and compliance requirements
- Reports data / findings clearly and promptly, documenting all relevant data for effective use across ExxonMobil
