Job Role Description

The Communications Advisor supports the development and execution of strategic communications that strengthen understanding of ExxonMobil Guyana Limited’s operations, partnerships, and contributions to its corporate and social objectives.

The role focuses on delivering clear, credible, and timely communication to key stakeholders including media, government, communities, employees, and the broader public. Reporting to the Media and Communications Supervisor, the Advisor helps shape narratives around the company’s activities while supporting transparency, stakeholder engagement, and responsible energy development. 

This role sits at the centre of how the organization engages with the public, policymakers, media, and communities and will provide communications expertise to various internal and external stakeholders.

The successful candidate will help shape narratives, support informed public dialogue, and strengthen relationships that underpin long-term, responsible resource development.

Job Role Responsibilities

Strategic Communications

  • Develop and implement integrated communication strategies aligned with organizational priorities
  • Provide counsel to senior leadership on messaging, media engagement, and reputational risk
  • Lead proactive and reactive media relations, including crisis communication support

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with media, civil society, and community stakeholders
  • Support dialogue platforms that encourage transparency, understanding, and collaboration

Content Development

  • Produce high-quality communication materials including speeches, press releases, op-eds, and digital content
  • Translate complex technical and policy issues into clear, accessible messaging for diverse audiences

Internal Collaboration

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of messaging across business priorities
  • Support internal communication efforts to ensure employees are informed and engaged
