What role you will play in our team

 

The Environmental Team Lead will support the Cold Lake operation by completing regulatory analyses, maintaining existing regulatory compliance systems and relationships, and ensuring compliance with internal and external reporting requirements.  The position will keep up-to-date with assigned regulations and support Operations staff to drive reasonable rulemaking and interpretations.  Actual job role could vary based on experience and knowledge of candidate(s).  The position is located In Cold Lake, Alberta.

What you will do

  • Perform routine environmental and regulatory compliance activities including managing data associated with environmental and regulatory permitting, compliance, processes and programs
  • Coordinate information gathering, respond to internal and regulatory agency information requests, and support permit applications
  • Assist in developing and implementing consistent and efficient compliance programs (e.g. environmental aspect / impact assessments, environmental business planning)
  • Provide feedback on process and tool improvement opportunities including impact avoidance and mitigation measures
  • Lead implementation of appropriate environmental and regulatory practices including impact avoidance and mitigation measures for the operating facility
  • Lead environmental business planning efforts or environmental aspect assessments for the site
  • Communicate company position on issues affecting operating or business unit on a local governmental agency level (e.g. permit application interface with provincial regulator)
  • Advocate for responsible, sustainable business positions; clearly communicate business and technical impacts; and effectively advance these positions in regulatory, governmental and community engagements
  • Lead environmental advisor for on-site environmental team, environmental contractors and local management

About you

  • Demonstrated knowledge of environmental risk management
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant environmental experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Federal & Provincial environmental regulations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Alberta Regulatory Framework including Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act
  • Bachelor of Engineering or Science (Chemical or Environmental preferred)
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Organizational leadership skills
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Work, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong detail orientation
  • Strong business ethics
  • Previous supervisory or lead experience would be beneficial
  • A valid driver's license and a safe driving record are required for this site-based position
