What role will you play in our team
The Trading IT Intern will support applications used by the Global Gas & Power Marketing business. The team is responsible for Energy Trading & Risk Management (ETRM) platforms, including Allegro Horizon, along with several internally developed systems and integrations.
This role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in enterprise application support, software development, system integrations, cloud technologies, and Agile delivery practices. The intern will work closely with analysts, developers, and business users while contributing to both support and project activities.
Key Responsibilities
Application Support
- Assist with day-to-day support of trading and risk management applications.
- Investigate and troubleshoot application and data issues.
- Support incident resolution and root cause analysis activities.
- Monitor interfaces and batch processes.
- Help maintain technical documentation and knowledge articles.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
Development & Enhancements
- Assist in developing and maintaining applications, interfaces, and middleware components.
- Support enhancements to existing systems based on business requirements.
- Participate in testing, validation, and deployment activities.
- Perform data analysis and assist in implementing fixes and minor enhancements.
- Support integrations between ETRM applications and enterprise systems.
Project Work
- Participate in application upgrade and enhancement projects.
- Assist with requirements gathering and technical design activities.
- Support development, testing, and transition to production support.
- Collaborate with global teams on technology initiatives.
Preferred Skills
Technical Skills
- Basic knowledge of C# and .NET development
- Basic understanding of SQL and relational databases
- Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server concepts (queries, joins, stored procedures)
- Understanding of object-oriented programming principles
- Exposure to APIs, system integrations, or middleware concepts
- Familiarity with Git or source control tools
- Basic understanding of Windows environments
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS is a plus
- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies is a plus
