What role you will play on our team
Join the Baytown Economics and Coordination team and play a key role in optimizing refinery and chemicals operations through economic analysis, production planning, and operational coordination. In this role, you will work closely with coordinators, economists, operations personnel, business teams, and process engineers to develop operating strategies that maximize profitability while maintaining safe and reliable operations. You will gain hands-on experience with manufacturing economics, scheduling, production planning, quality management, and short-term optimization while building a strong foundation for future leadership opportunities. This job is within ExxonMobil Global Operations with opportunities to collaborate across global teams, central headquarters, and other manufacturing sites.

What you will do
- Support Baytown area production planning and optimization activities through economic analysis, operating signal development, and coordination.
- Work with coordinators to schedule operating targets, product dispositions, quality specifications, and unit rate recommendations.
- Analyze weekly market conditions, feedstock economics, product values, and site constraints to provide actionable business recommendations.
- Collaborate with Operations Teams, Process Engineering, and Supply organizations to identify and capture economic opportunities.
- Participate in strategic improvement initiatives and continuous improvement projects focused on optimization and value creation.
- Support weekly run plan development, coordination activities, and communication of economic operating signals across the site.
- Monitor site performance against plan and investigate deviations to improve execution and profitability.
About you
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, or a related discipline
- 2-5 years of experience in refining, petrochemicals, manufacturing, production economics, or a related technical field
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate operational and economic tradeoffs.
- Ability to interpret operational data, identify trends, and develop recommendations that improve profitability and business performance.
- Experience collaborating across organizational boundaries and influencing outcomes through teamwork and effective communication.
- In addition to strong technical background in process flows and financial close, successful candidates will demonstrate innovative thinking, strong initiative, and exemplary communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with peers, across organizational boundaries, and in diverse and globally dispersed teams
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and stakeholders and be able to influence and promote change to achieve desired results with no direct authority
