What Role You Will Play in Our Team
- Provide technical support, advice on product fitness for use, and new applications to support existing and new customers of ExxonMobil’s Basestocks Business or ExxonMobil’s Intermediates Hydrocarbon Fluids Business or ExxonMobil’s Intermediates Linear Alpha Olefins (LAO) Business
- Provide technical interactions and support to sales and customers
- Location is Houston area (Baytown, TX or Spring, TX)
What You Will Do
- Comply with all Corporate policies for internal and external activities
- Serve as a technical resource to business units and platforms
- Provide technical interactions and support to sales and customers for the technical qualification of ExxonMobil Basestock or ExxonMobil Intermediates products into new or existing applications and formulations
- Assess and evaluate product fitness-for-use in intended applications and formulations
- Develop new and support existing sales pipeline opportunities together with commercial departments to support market introduction of ExxonMobil Basestock or ExxonMobil Intermediates products & formulations
- Identify and develop new applications where existing or step-out products can provide performance benefits throughout the value chain
- Support trials at customers if required
- Participate in cross-functional teams (Marketing, Sales, Technology) to build and maintain sector, end-use, and competitive product technical knowledge
- Interface with Manufacturing, Supply Chain and external customers to resolve product performance or product quality complaints
- Work with internal and external labs to lead testing and summarize / evaluate findings and results to support quality queries
- Provide advice on safety, health, environmental and regulatory benefits associated with use of ExxonMobil Basestock or ExxonMobil Intermediates products
- Provide technical advice on regulatory related matters and advocacy
- Present technical papers at industry conferences and customer seminars
- Develop and conduct technical training for internal employees and external distributors/resellers
- Document completed efforts and segment knowledge such that others can leverage it to enable efficient future similar efforts. Identify opportunities to improve work processes.
About You
Skills and Qualifications (Required)
- Bachelors Degree in: Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or similar
- Minimum of 3+ years of Technical experience in Basestock or Intermediates application development
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Basestock or Intermediates Product knowledge and understanding of how products impact performance and end use
- Functional/behavioral skill proficiencies consistent with the Job role requirements
Preferred Qualifications/ Experience
- Masters or PhD Degree in: Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or similar
- Experience with Customer Technical Support, Customer Development, or Commercial Relationship Management
- Technical experience in Basestock or Intermediates product development
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams (Technical, Sales, and Marketing) to acquire knowledge on application requirements and customer needs
