Located on the banks of the Mississippi river in southeastern Louisiana, Baton Rouge is the state capital with more than 800,000 residents (the second largest city in the state). Baton Rouge Polymers North produces approximately 5 billion pounds of high density polyethylene, low density polyethylene, specialty elastomers, and polypropylene annually. What role you will play in our team
As a Process Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our processing units. You will be responsible for monitoring and controlling plant equipment and processes to meet production targets while maintaining strict adherence to standards. Your role is essential to maintaining safe plant operations, protecting the environment, and delivering high-quality products to our customers.
What you will do
- Safely perform duties with strict adherence to procedures, use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and company policy. Ownership of personal safety and safety of co-workers.
- Work a rotating shift schedule (including nights, weekends, and holidays) in a team environment
- Obtain unit qualification within specified time and maintain all post training requirements.
- Conduct operator surveillance rounds, record data and catch unit product samples for field or laboratory analysis.
- Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain unit equipment, open / close valves of various sizes, and prepare process equipment for maintenance.
- Process equipment includes but is not limited to the following: pumps, compressors, boilers, towers, reactors, exchangers, filters and associated piping.
- Perform primary emergency response duties assigned per post requirements.
You be enrolled in a Basic Operator Training Class when you start employment. This program will include all of the following:
- Basic Operator Training (classroom and field training)
- Train and qualify on post assignments in a timely manner (expectations and timelines set by Business Team)
- Participation in the Base Operator Training at Baton Rouge Polymers allows Veterans to draw their GI Bill benefits while in the Basic Operator Training Class.
About you
ExxonMobil is currently seeking candidates for Process Technicians at Baton Rouge Polymers North Plastics located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Process Technicians will operate and monitor process equipment in a safe, reliable, and environmentally sound manner.
Skills and Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of the ExxonMobil pre-employment test
- Submit to and satisfactorily complete pre-employment background, medical, and drug screening
- Must possess valid Drivers’ license.
- Able and willing to work shift work that includes nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime (may be forced to meet business needs)
- Able and willing to work in inclement weather, climb structures, perform work at heights and in enclosed spaces
- Able and willing to work both independently in remote locations and in a team environment.
- Able and willing to use and wear personal protective equipment (PPE)
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated relevant work experience is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work as a contributing team member
- Ability to work independent of direct supervision
- Desire and ability to be a leader in personnel safety and teamwork dynamics
