Job Role Description
In addition to technical responsibilities, the engineer supports development of marine terminal operator training, ensuring personnel are equipped to manage mooring, cargo transfer, and emergency scenarios safely and effectively. The role also involves utilizing demurrage and freight economics to identify opportunities for reducing vessel turnaround times and improving supply chain margins. The engineer actively contributes to risk management and SHE performance by embedding safety and environmental considerations into engineering decisions. As a representative of the organization in industry forums and regulatory engagements, the Advanced Marine Terminal Engineer advocates for best practices and helps shape industry standards, driving both operational excellence and long-term business value
Job Role Responsibilities
- Specify, evaluate, and support the operation of cargo transfer systems, such as loading arms, hoses, and manifolds, to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable product handling across all terminal operations
- Lead the integration and testing of emergency shutdown systems (ESD) and fire protection infrastructure specifications and facility design into terminal designs, ensuring rapid response capability and alignment with regulatory and corporate safety requirements
- Conduct technical assessments and provide engineering support for both day-to-day terminal operations and capital project development, including feasibility studies, design reviews, and commissioning activities
- Develop training programs for marine terminal operators, focusing on safe mooring practices, cargo transfer procedures, emergency response protocols, and ESD system operation
- Analyze demurrage and freight performance data to identify inefficiencies, reduce vessel turnaround times, and support commercial teams in optimizing freight economics and supply chain margins
- Embed SHE and risk management principles into engineering decisions by conducting hazard identification (HAZID), risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations
- Represent the organization in industry forums and regulatory engagements, contributing to the development of marine terminal standards and advocating for best practices in safety, design, and operational excellence
