Job Role Description

Geologic Operations Specialist - Advanced is responsible for providing in-depth expertise in geologic operations support to business lines, typically by subsurface characterization, analysis, and technical supervision of diverse geoscience elements that lead to optimization of drill well evaluations and operations activities. This role can be relied upon to assist business lines to solve challenging geological operations problems, supporting Subsurface Prediction business capability across the organization, and maintaining an awareness of external and internal technologies that could be developed or leveraged and applied to decisions across the value chain within the disciplines of geoscience well planning and execution, integrated pore pressure analysis, shallow hazard and site investigation, and geomechanics. Furthermore, advanced practitioners are expected to leverage subject-matter experts as peer reviewers to test logic and optimize from diverse perspectives

Job Role Responsibilities

Independently conduct value accretive geologic operations projects and associated capability strategies from deep subject matter expertise to solve challenging business problems, safely and efficiently conduct operations, support capability sustainability across the organization and maintain an awareness of external and internal technologies that could be developed or leveraged and applied across the value chain
Support high-technical quality geologic operations standards, guidelines, and workflows effectively for timely decision making
Contributes to cohesive geologic operations data collection, prediction, and curation efforts that align with both central support and local business needs
Collaborates with team on the integration, iteration, and communication of geologic operations solutions
Supports skill discipline through participation in peer reviews, mentoring, informal teaching, curriculum development, skill community support, leveraging of relevant subject matter experts, and the general communication of standard practices
Advises business leaders on geologic operations solutions and provides technical leadership for mentoring / training, technical assurance standards, technology development and deployment, and process optimizations
Represent geologic operations skills depth for any strategic external leveraging needs such as influencing partners, promoting high quality technical skills, informing benchmarking, developing new technology solutions with vendors, and so on
