What role you will play in team

 

The Contract Owner has overall responsibility to manage contract life cycles by driving value and efficiency, while ensuring operational integrity. This role supports the procurement needs for (a specific commodity) within ExxonMobil. The Contract Owner will own and manage agreements in a specific category and will optimize Total Cost of Ownership for lifecycle of agreements. The Contract Owner will be responsible for Management of Change and Relationship Management of agreements throughout their lifetime 

 

Job will be based at Bangalore, Whitefield office ( WFO) for 5 days in a week.

What you will do

 

Key Responsibilities


Contract Management & Strategy 

  • Own and manage agreements within a specified category throughout their lifecycle.
  • Drive optimization of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for all agreements.
  • Lead Management of Change and ongoing relationship management for agreements.
  • Identify business value opportunities and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Influence and implement category strategy and commercial guidance.


Negotiation & Supplier Engagement 

  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers while aligning with internal stakeholders.
  • Seek lowest Total Cost of Ownership TCO and ensure proper mitigation of supply and legal risks.
  • Monitor supplier performance and troubleshoot contract or performance-related issues.
  • Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and suppliers to ensure seamless execution.


Contract Execution & Governance

  • Manage updates to contracts including scope, pricing, exhibits, and amendments.
  • Ensure contract compliance, utilization, and transactional efficiency.
  • Execute Requisition to Pay (RtP) processes in full compliance with ExxonMobil standards.
  • Fully leverage procurement tools and processes to select the optimal sourcing method.


Market & Data Insights

  • Develop strong market expertise, including supplier landscape insights and emerging technologies.
  • Identify efficiencies by analyzing leakage, overheads, and third-party markups.
  • Track and report cost avoidance, mitigation, and business enhancement outcomes.

About you

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or relevant experience stream with minimum 6 CGPA
  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience in contracting, negotiation, vendor management, procurement, sourcing, or supply chain operations
  • Experience of contracting one/multiple categories from below list:
    • Transportation & logistics (rail/road/marine/aviation)
    • Warehousing
  • Strong negotiation skills with demonstrated commercial acumen.
  • Proven leadership ability and excellent communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills using sound judgment.
  • Effective collaborator with the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Team player with adaptability to changing requirements and deadlines.
  • Proven track record of managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, and driving cost efficiencies.
  • Minimum Annual spend managed minimum $ 1M.

 

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience

  • Procurement experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
  • International business exposure.
  • Experience with competitive bids, RFIs, auctions, and negotiations.
  • Ability to lead through informal authority.
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency and ownership.
  • Proven ability to influence at all organizational levels.
  • Strong understanding of Total Cost of Ownership principles.
  • Experience with project planning, execution, and P2P processes.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and procurement technologies.
  • Experience in contract development, setup, administration, and stewardship.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with ability to identify and apply industry best practices.
