About our Houston Campus
ExxonMobil's state-of-the-art campus north of Houston serves as the corporation’s global headquarters and is home to its Upstream, Product Solutions, and Low Carbon Solutions companies and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and was built to accommodate more than 10,000 employees and visitors.
By bringing many functional groups together, the campus provides employees with the tools and capabilities needed today, and in the future, to achieve business objectives and accelerate the discovery of new resources, technologies and products. It was designed to foster improved collaboration, creativity and innovation and enhance the company’s ability to attract, develop and retain the top talent in the industry.
The campus was constructed to the highest standards of energy efficiency and environmental stewardship. Its design incorporates extensive research into best practices in building and workplace design through extensive benchmarking of the world’s top academic, research, and corporate facilities.
What You Will Do
The successful candidate will have a broad background in Organic Chemistry, Physical Organic Chemistry, Materials Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related fields, with expertise in molecular design, chemical synthesis, and reaction mechanisms. The ability to develop and test structure-property hypotheses through synthesis, characterization, and experimental investigation is required.
The candidate should have experience studying phase behavior, molecular interactions, and the relationships between molecular structure and physical and chemical properties. A strong understanding of chemical and process thermodynamics, reaction kinetics, process chemistry, and the chemistry of industrial processes is required. Candidates should also be well-versed in molecular characterization techniques such as NMR, GC, LC, mass spectrometry, and related analytical methods.
The successful candidate is expected to provide technical leadership through individual contributions and collaboration on multidisciplinary teams, identify and develop new research opportunities, mentor less-experienced researchers, and build productive collaborations both internally and with external research organizations.
