Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to join a challenging legal practice in one of Canada’s premier oil and gas companies. Our Law Department provides legal expertise to Imperial and ExxonMobil Canada operations.


In this important role, you will apply your understanding of the Canadian legal process and assist with the management of case files covering matters across the country.  In addition, you will be responsible for coordinating travel and meetings, preparing expense reports and providing other administrative support to an internal organization's management and staff. 

Qualifications

Academic:

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED as a minimum requirement
  • Legal Assistant Diploma from a post-secondary institution is an asset

 

Other:

  • 1 to 10 years of relevant experience is preferred
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are required
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively manage a varied workload in a fast-paced environment are key. 
  • Outgoing and professional mannerism
  • Demonstrated flexibility and initiative
  • Work well both independently and as a team member
  • Possess superior interpersonal and communications skills. 
  • Training and/or experience in litigation, patents and trademarks are desirable, but not mandatory

Eligibility to work in Canada

All applicants who receive an offer of employment must be eligible to work in Canada on their start date.  Proof of eligibility shall be in the form of a Canadian birth certificate, Canadian passport, Canadian citizenship certificate, Canadian certificate of permanent residence, Canadian open work permit or receipt from Immigration Canada of an application for a post-graduate work permit. Proof of eligibility must be current and valid (not expired, cancelled or voided). Proof of eligibility will be required if an offer of employment is made. Failure to provide proof of eligibility at least six (6) weeks prior to the start date may result in the offer of employment being rescinded.
