Job description

As part of the Procurement department, you are responsible for helping to adhere to certain purchasing guidelines based on the strategies and goals outlined by the department. You will be in charge of the purchase of materials, equipment, and services for operations and projects while aiming to assure the supply of items for business continuity, at the lowest total cost of ownership possible. This is to be completed by achieving industry best practice standards of delivery time and quality of products and services.

Examples of Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Reports to the Procurement Center Buying Group Supervisor or Team Lead
  • Processes a queue of requisitions and converts to purchase orders on a daily basis
  • Coordinate among client/functional experts on various contracting issues
  • Manage supplier relationships in conjunction with operations
  • Ensure all work associated with the development and management of orders is in compliance with applicable laws and established controls
  • Coordinates long term purchasing strategies for business line plant turn-around, projects, integrated events, etc.
  • Engages business line to collect long lead requirements and develop procurement strategies with category management .
  • Develops bid packages for spot purchases
  • Coordinates bid evaluations and identifies bundling opportunities
  • Conducts complex negotiations of pricing and general terms & conditions 
  • Addresses invoice discrepancies from the purchase order or the goods receipt and approves invoice payment for any additional freight costs not accounted for on purchase order 
  • Provides support to ensure timely invoice payment 
  • Handles any PO maintenance for orders processed (e.g. update PO text, update delivery date, etc.)

 

Qualifications

 

Academic:

  • Recent graduate of Bachelor degree in related business curriculum required, recent defined as within past 3 years.
  • SCMP designation is preferred but not required

 
Other:

  • Basic MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Basic SAP proficiency is preferred
  • Organized, attention to detail, accuracy, self-motivated and ability to work independently
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Flexible and eager to learn
  • Willingness to relocate

Eligibility to work in Canada

All applicants who receive an offer of employment must be eligible to work in Canada on a regular full-time basis without restrictions on their start date. Proof of eligibility shall be in the form of a Canadian birth certificate, Canadian passport, Canadian citizenship certificate, Canadian certificate of permanent residence, Canadian open work permit or receipt from Immigration Canada of an application for a post-graduate work permit . Proof of eligibility must be current and valid (not expired, cancelled or voided). Proof of eligibility will be required if an offer of employment is made. Failure to provide proof of eligibility at least six (6) weeks prior to the start date may result in the offer of employment being rescinded.
