Kearl Plant Maintenance Electrical and Instrumentation Technician

Job description

As a Mechanical Technician you will be working within the Kearl Production Maintenance Organization whose function is to execute maintenance to ensure a safe and reliable operation.
 

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Consistently working in a safe manner, understanding all applicable safety, environmental guidelines and procedures
  • Perform quality workmanship with ability to identify/action on deficiency. 
  • Seek to understand and address root causes vs symptoms
  • Make and explain decisions
  • Utilizing trade skills within curriculum
  • Identify productive, schedulable and non-schedulable opportunities including WN entry
  • Documentation of actions, time and information transfer 
  • Provide estimates for work requirements and updates on progress. 
  • Oversight, planning and coordination of contractors
  • Seek answers to those that are not known
  • Identify/champion efficiency and CI opportunities
  • SAP & UDOCs proficiency
  • Collaborate on maintenance solutions cross functionally
  • Possess strong yet balanced desire to succeed as a Function, BT and Asset
  • Reporting to Front Line Supervisor and able to follow direction

Qualifications

Academic: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is a minimum requirement

 

Other:

  • Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyperson Electrician
  • Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyperson Instrument Tech
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license and safe driving record
  • 5 years’ experience minimum (Oil Sands Experience preferred) 
  • Demonstrates high standards of personal safety and is accomplished in job risk assessment and management

This position will be a full time fly-in, fly-out camp based role to the Kearl site with a 14 days on/14 days off work schedule. Bussing is available from Fort McMurray, and flights are available from either Calgary or Edmonton. Relocation assistance to Fort McMurray, Calgary or Edmonton is available if required. Bus transportation is also available to Kearl site from Fort McMurray at the beginning and end of each shift rotation for Fort McMurray residents

Kearl operations will provide safe, secure and quiet accommodation near to the worksite for employees working on rotating work schedules. Facilities include a private room/washroom for each employee.
