Short Range Mine Services Planner

Reporting to the Short Range Planning Lead, the Short Range Mine Services Planner is responsible for planning for Support Facilities such as wash bays, laboratory, support shops & related equipment, fuels islands and related facilities (focus is on mechanical equipment, pumps, compressors, etc.) providing relief coverage to Mine Mobile Planners (Trucks, Shovel & Support equipment), allocating new work orders to appropriate planning resources, creating plans and task lists for all maintenance repair activities including: emergency, break-in, urgent breakdown work-orders, breakdown, predictive, preventative maintenance plans


Responsibilities:

  • Identify all Health, Safety & Environmental requirements pertaining to all maintenance activities
  • Formulate quality job plans for all maintainable assets.
  • Physical Walk-downs on all equipment within span of planning control
  • Consult with other departments to obtain required background and information for job plan clarity
  • Review and assist in management of fleet parts and consumables requirements
  • Maintain Preventative Maintenance programs including minor administrative changes
  • Work closely with:
    • materials and Services Coordinator and Technicians to ensure all required spares, material and service contracts are available
    • field execution teams in understanding labor allocation requirements and work load limitations and also with Scheduler
  • Maintain an excellent working relationship with other project functions, stakeholder and departments
  • Champion the Kearl Maintenance Business Process and train/educate in its applicability to various scenarios
  • Promote a continuous improvement mind set
  • Assist Maintenance Execution with SAP issues and provide education and assistance
  • Participate/lead risk assessments and hazard and operability study
  • Communication is key in all aspects of your day

Qualifications


Academic:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required                                                                                                                                                                         
  • Technical certification preferred with a journey person certificate in Millwright/Industrial Mechanic; HD Mechanic considered an asset

 

Other:

  • 5 years of experience with facility maintenance
  • Caterpillar Mobile Mine Equipment maintenance considered an asset
  • Superior working knowledge of SAP
  • Knowledge of facility maintenance processes and oil sands maintenance programs
  • Familiarity with industry planning, scheduling and execution concepts
  • Thorough working knowledge of Maintenance and Reliability practices
  • Continuous improvement skills and commitment to best practices
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; communication and influencing
  • Proven coaching and mentoring techniques and skills and an ability & desire to train others
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license and a safe driving record are required

  • This position will be a full time fly-in, fly-out role to Kearl site from either Calgary or Edmonton. Relocation assistance to Calgary or Edmonton is available if required. Bus transportation is also available to Kearl site from Fort McMurray at the beginning and end of each shift rotation for Fort McMurray residents.
  • Kearl operations positions will typically be 11 days on and 9 days off (shift rotations start and finish with a partial day shift).
  • Kearl operations will provide safe, secure and quiet accommodation near to the worksite for employees working on rotating work schedules. Facilities include a private room/washroom for each employee.
