What role you will play in our team
This is a site-based role, rotating to Kearl Oil Sands on a 14/14 day rotation. Transportation to Kearl is provided by Imperial from either Calgary, AB or Edmonton, AB or Fort McMurray, AB, and accommodations are provided at Imperial camp facilities.
This role, part of the Sitewide Services team within Maintenance, provides exposure to both project management and technical design, and hands on field experience at an operating site.
What you will do
- Work in a cross-functional environment with stakeholders representing operations, maintenance, technical, and construction groups
- Engage with site stakeholders to identify and implement continues improvement opportunities
- Align stakeholders on project objectives, opportunity evaluation, and concept selection
- Trouble shooting and consulting on facility design and operating problems
- Prepare engineering studies and economic analyses and provide recommendations
- Support the development of project plans and cost & schedule estimates
- Oversight of detailed design, construction, and startup & commissioning for small project
About you
Skills and Qualifications
- Enrolled in an Engineering degree program at an accredited Canadian university
- Preference for 3rd or 4th year Electrical and Mechanical engineering disciplines
- Your most recent unofficial transcript(s) must be submitted with your application
- A valid driver’s license required
Preferred Qualifications/ Experience
- Commitment to safety on and off the job
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Problem solving and analytical skills
- Data interrogation and presentation skills beneficial
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a team-based environment
- Preference will be given to Indigenous candidates, particularly those from the Wood Buffalo Region

Eligibility to work in Canada:
