Cold Lake’s Indigenous Internship Program is an opportunity for local Indigenous candidates to gain practical, hands-on work experience at our Cold Lake operation. Interns will be trained and mentored in a supportive work environment.

 

An Instrumentation and Electrical Technician position through the Indigenous Internship Program is available at Imperial's Cold Lake, Alberta location. The city of Cold Lake is located in the western Canadian province of Alberta. It is approximately 294 km (180 miles) northeast of Edmonton, 170 km (100 miles) north of Lloydminster, and 588 km (375 miles) northeast of Calgary. The area offers all major amenities without crowds and traffic, world class recreational facilities and numerous types of outdoor activities. This is NOT a fly in/out opportunity and camp is not provided. Relocation to the Cold Lake area is required.

 

This is an excellent opportunity to progress towards electrical or instrumentation certification. Your primary responsibilities will include maintaining and troubleshooting process control Instrumentation for assigned units, identifying upgrades to optimize equipment functionality and supporting the testing of new technologies.

What you will do

 

Working in our Cold Lake Operations, you will be part of a group of skilled tradespeople who carry out mechanical work in the Cold Lake Plant and Field. Accountable for maintenance, PM, working on process control equipment, compressors and turbine generators, and optimization of all plant and field rotating equipment. Planning, coordination and supervision of all contract millwright services in coordination with maintenance planner. You will operate within all standards, policies, procedures and business plans for the team, the district and Imperial Oil Resources. 
 

  • Adhere to all safety, health and environment policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates commitment to Corporate Priorities for Operating 
  • Maintains high standard of facility housekeeping and environmental oversight
  • Complies with all regulatory controls associated with Operations 
  • Maximizes production through daily oversight of equipment performance 
  • Effectively utilize reporting, communication and planning processes to manage work related duties 
  • Provides mentorship to co-workers and maintains professional relationships with co-workers and contractors
  • Complies with business controls policies

 

About you

 

Skills and Qualifications

 

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Instrumentation or Electrical Certification would be an asset
  • Instrumentation or Electrical Journey person ticket
  • Previous experience in SAP, Excel, Maintenance hub, PLC , Blue Beam, A connects experience is preferred
