Engineering Students - Cold Lake

Job Description

Imperial is recruiting for engineering students to assign to a variety of positions located at our oil sands production facilitity in Cold Lake, Alberta. You will be assigned to a specific position and department based on your interests, skills, knowledge, experience as well as Imperial’s business needs. Examples of assignments may include:

 

Materials and Corrosion Engineering Student
Work with the asset Materials and Corrosion Engineers to support our integrity programs for pipelines, piping and tanks. The individual will work on the Programmatics team provides specialty engineering support to the Cold Lake facility.  The individual will get a chance to work on an enthusiastic and highly technical team who support the day-to-day operation of 5 plants and >800 pipelines. Excellent opportunity to develop field based engineering experience. Individual will interface with additional technical resources in Calgary, Houston and Bangalore.

 

I&C Engineering Student 
Support control system, historian, alarms and maintenance databases.  Apply design fundamentals in developing, selection and application of data management solutions.  Analyze production data to identify process control issues and develop strategies to mitigate them.

 

Reservoir Surveillance Engineering Student
Support reservoir studies and surveillance for the Cold Lake Asset. Work term will be located in Cold Lake, Alberta and provides an opportunity for hands-on, field experience in areas of production engineering and surveillance, production optimization, reservoir management, reservoir performance evaluations, opportunity generation, and field trials or studies. Other tasks may include gathering and analyzing data to make recommendations for improvements in areas that drive value.

 

Subsurface Engineering Student
Support well performance (artificial lift) and casing integrity optimizations and studies within the Cold Lake Subsurface Engineering Team.  Work term will be located in a Cold Lake, Alberta to provide an opportunity for hands-on experience with field operations, production engineering, well integrity, and well servicing activities.  Work scope may include tasks such as evaluating and implementing new well technologies and gathering and analyzing well data to make recommendations for improvements in practices.

 

Facilities Engineering Student
Troubleshooting and consulting on facility design and operating problems, working directly with operations and maintenance personal.  Prepare engineering designs using industry code and company standards for facility upgrades and replacement in kinds of piping, pumps, and all other process equipment.  Perform studies on enhancement opportunities, finalize studies with engineered design packages for execution. Provide engineering guidance on execution of facility upgrades, work directly with maintenance group and contractors.

Qualifications

Academic:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s  Degree in Engineering
  • Demonstrated leadership and strong academic skills
  • Previous industry experience is considered beneficial, but not essential

  • Commitment to safety on and off the job
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required for the role
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic, results-oriented individuals who are energized by working with people and by achieving superior results

  • Work schedule: Full time position
