Job description

This is a 4-month student work term from May to the end of August 2021. As an instrumentation technology student you will assist in the maintenance/troubleshooting of process plant equipment and field facilities.  Under the supervision of senior maintenance staff, you will learn maintenance skills through on-the-job experience, supplemented by in house training.  Occasional driving on gravel roads will be required for transportation between sites.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Abiding by all safety rules and standards, reporting hazards and holding responsibility for the safe operation of assigned facilities, tools, and company vehicles
  • Participating in safety programs and attending training sessions; completing self-development courses
  • Executing all work within government regulations and company standards
  • Executing specific activities defined within the preventative maintenance program to maintain the integrity of instrumentation and control systems
  • Repairing instrument malfunctions identified through work order system and performing associated plant/field housekeeping
  • Demonstrating ability and initiative to improve or modify existing systems or procedures
  • Applying knowledge to assist with the support of the Honeywell Distributive Control System
  • Working with calibration of pneumatic equipment and end use devices
  • Working together with operations and contract personnel as necessary
  • Attending and participating in the instrumentation network as required

  • Latest/highest education completed
  • First year student enrolled in an instrumentation technology diploma program



  • Valid class 5 driver's license and safe driving record are required
