Trading Operations Analyst Student

Job Description

Imperial Oil is recruiting a student for an internship in the Supply and Marketing (S&M) team located in Calgary, Canada. As a member of S&M team, you will be part of the team responsible for day to day operations of trading of Natural gas and Power in Imperial Oil’s upstream organization. You will be directly involved in building and supporting digital solutions and piloting analytic projects that supports Traders, analysts through stand-alone desktop/cloud solutions.

 

The Trading Operations Analyst Student is responsible for developing new and maintaining existing tools in the portfolio under the guidance of trading team. Responsibilities of this role include:

  • Day to day support to the Traders, including calculating the portfolio Profit and Loss, managing deals and pricing data,  and providing feedback to trading team members.
  • Learning and employing the technology stack to implement new features in our in-house proprietary applications using Python
  • Leverage existing in-house tools and build and develop enhanced features to support traders’ portfolio of positions 
  • Working collaboratively with the commercial and trading, accounting and business support teams
  • Trying new technologies, building new tools, adapting new approaches and solutions to solve tough problems

 

Qualifications

Academic:

  • 3rd or 4th year Computer/Electrical/Software Engineering, Computer Science or Information Systems students interested in learning and applying the course curriculum and returning to University 
  • 3rd or 4th year Chemical/Petroleum/Mechanical Engineering degree students interested in a career in Energy Markets and Information Technology returning to University
  • Prior internship in Energy or finance industry is preferred, but not required
  • To be considered for employment, your most recent unofficial transcript(s) must be submitted with your application

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required for the role
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic, results-oriented individuals who are energized by working with people and by achieving superior results
  • A valid driver’s license and a safe driving record are required
  • Work schedule: Full time position

 


Start date: May 2022

 

Work Term: 12 months preferred, 8 months considered
