What role you will play in our team

 

Imperial is looking for ambitious and highly motivated students to join our Procurement Services Department (PSD). You will be working in a fast-paced team environment and have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in a myriad of areas including data analysis and visualization, contracting, negotiations, supply chain, procurement process, and payment of materials and services.

What you will do

 
As a Procurement Support Student, you will:
 
  • Be assigned to a team within the procurement department, with the opportunity to collaborate with other teams/departments.
  • Perform in-depth analysis on current state contracts, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Negotiate pricing and terms with vendors.
  • Interface with internal business clients and external suppliers to ensure effective. communication and achievement of company strategic goals.
  • Support PtP (Procure-to-Pay) activities which may include requisitioning, inventory, optimization, purchasing, invoicing, invoice troubleshooting, supplier performance, expediting material deliveries, etc.
  • Conduct agreement reviews to determine alignment with controls.
  • Perform data analytics and visualization support for contract and/or supply chain administration activities.
  • Perform business analytic functions in support of stewardship reporting.
  • Work with software systems as required to support the day-to-day functions of the procurement department.
  • Work with and integrate the use of business intelligence tools to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Student terms will also include a variety of short-term projects with specific deliverables for completion by the end of your work term

 

About you


Skills and Qualifications

 

A successful Procurement Support Student has the following key qualifications:
 

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Commerce, Business, Supply Chain, or Operations Management, with plans to return to school following the work term
  • To be considered for employment, your most recent unofficial transcript(s) must be submitted with your application.

 

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience

 

  • Problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) – with the ability to recognize audience and interface with internal business clients and external suppliers.
  • Strong data analysis and visualization skills.
  • Proven proficiency in working with and applying business intelligence tools, Microsoft Office tools, and SAP systems.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Critical thinking skills, flexibility, and time management abilities.
  • A strong desire to learn and develop resulting in the creation of value to the department and organization.
  • Supply chain/procurement experience is considered an asset.

 

Start date: May 2026

 

Work term: 8 months
