Mechanical Engineer

Job description

Responsibilities may include:

  • Providing remote technical consulting support to manufacturing sites, including base operations and capital projects
  • Provide on-site technical consulting support for manufacturing site turnarounds
  • Providing mechanical expertise and leadership for design, maintenance, and troubleshooting of pressure equipment (pressure vessels, piping, and tanks)
  • Providing mechanical expertise and leadership in the application of engineering standards, advanced fitness for service evaluations, and risk-based assessments

Qualifications

Academic:

  • University degree (Bachelors or Masters) in mechanical engineering

Other:

  • Eligibility for professional engineering membership in the Province of Alberta
  • Ten to fifteen years of mechanical engineering-related industrial experience, including a minimum of 5 years practical experience in an operating oil refinery or petrochemical facility
  • Competent in application of industry standards for pressure vessels (ASME Sec VIII), piping (ASME B31.3), tanks (API 650), and fitness for service (API 579)
  • Familiar with risk-based evaluations and root cause analysis
  • Effective communication and inter personal skills with a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Comfortable working in an industrial environment which includes occasional work at heights and confined space work
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time to provide on-site support of Imperial’s manufacturing sites in Alberta and Ontario
  • Willingness to relocate to Calgary
  • Valid driver`s license and safe driving record is required
