HR Generalist - Student

The HR Generalist position will be given the opportunity to have a wide variety of responsibilities which may include:

  • Advising your business partners on an array of topics from workforce and position planning, staff development, performance management, industrial relations (in union, non-union and joint industrial council environments) to workplace inclusion and diversity
  • Analyzing and leveraging data to positively influence business strategy and decisions
  • Consulting on workplace change management resulting from various business improvement/growth initiatives
  • Gaining a broad exposure to the development, monitoring and improvement of HR policies, practices and programs

Qualifications

Academic:

  • 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year HR student from a:
    • Business, Commerce or MBA degree program, or
    • Post-graduate program with specialization in human resources / industrial relations
  • To be considered for employment, your most recent unofficial transcript(s) must be submitted with your application

Other:

  • Previous exposure to working as part of a HR team and / or experience in an office environment is an asset
  • Standard skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are required and experience using SAP is an asset
  • Ability and interest to relocate to various locations across the country is desirable
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently as well as with teams
  • Effective project and change management skills
  • Ability to identify continuous improvement opportunities and propose solutions
  • Ability to work collaboratively, think analytically, and demonstrate strong communications skills

 

Start date: January 2020

 

Work term: 12 months
