What role will you play in our team
As a student (co-op) engineer, you will support Imperial’s Midstream Business, CFO (Canada Fuels Operations), by providing technical engineering assistance under the guidance of experienced engineers. You will contribute to the safe and efficient operation of facilities by helping resolve equipment issues, supporting risk mitigation efforts, and participating in facility improvement initiatives. This role is based in Calgary, Alberta.
What you will do
- Promote a strong safety culture by following and reinforcing safety and environmental policies in all work activities
- Provide day-to-day, technical support to operations teams across multiple engineering disciplines
- Assist in identifying and resolving equipment and process issues under the guidance of experienced engineers
- Participate in incident investigations and risk assessments, contributing technical input with support from subject matter experts
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on facility performance, asset optimization, and equipment reliability
- Help develop and update operating procedures and contribute to the standardization of field practices
- Assist in reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation for facility modifications
- Support the coordination and documentation of facility changes, including tasks related to the management of change process
About you
Skills & Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Materials, Civil, Electrical Engineering, or similar at a Canadian accredited university
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
- Strong safety mindset demonstrated in all aspects of work
- Clear communication, interpersonal, and issue resolution skills in a diverse team environment
- Effective planning, organizational, and decision-making skills with the ability to influence operations teams and stakeholders
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively to manage ongoing issues, new requests, and base program execution
- Self-motivated with the perseverance to follow up, resolve, and close issues independently
- Willingness to travel to operational sites within Canada (up to one week per month)
Start date: September, 2025
Work Term: 12 - 16 months

Eligibility to work in Canada
