Job description

This is a Calgary based on a regular 5/2 schedule (Monday to Friday). 
This role would be reporting to Ops Tech Support Supervisor, with primary direction from the Kearl Ops Tech Facilities Engineering Lead and the Kearl Business teams as well as designated area engineering mentorship. 

Responsibilities of this role include:


  • Technical site support for day-to-day unit issues, opportunities identification, and short-term engineering initiatives
  • Support facilities surveillance, unit troubleshooting, optimization 
  • Day-to-day investigation and alleviation of unit constraints
  • Provide technical support for production downtime or process safety events
  • Design, specify, deploy, and sustain facilities designs leveraging MOC processes and Kearl’s design practices/tools
  • Support plant turnaround and outage scope, respond to RFIs and provide alternate solutions
  • Collaborate with key Business Team stakeholders (Operations, Maintenance, Reliability and Technical)



  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical engineering, or a related discipline
  • Currently enrolled in a University Engineering program and returning to full-time studies after the work term
  • Your most recent unofficial transcript(s) must be submitted with your application

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a team-based environment
  • Work schedule: Full-time position
