Job Role Summary


We are seeking dynamic, creative, and resourceful candidates for ExxonMobil’s Yuzhno, Russia location to work on challenging production opportunity generation and optimization problems in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team. 

Job Role Responsibilities

The candidate is expected to have the ability to integrate key geoscience and reservoir engineering data and design work plans to develop drilling opportunities and execute production programs. The Production Opportunity Generation and Optimization role requires the candidate work across multi-functional groups to add value by identifying and characterizing opportunities that will positively impact field production or profitability. Opportunities occur at the wellbore, reservoir, asset, and acreage capture scales and can include: new acreage acquisition, field extension, infill and step-out drilling, recompletion and workovers, secondary or enhanced recovery methods, facility debottlenecking, application of new technologies, reevaluation of previously uneconomic opportunities, and acquisition or divestiture. The candidate also requires a comprehensive understanding of the regulatory and contractual obligations that impact the opportunity generation process.  
•    Experience of detailed reservoir and compartment  seismic mapping, with the ability to identify structural and stratigraphic traps based on sound structural and stratigraphic principles
•    Characterization of subsurface scenarios -  integration of seismic interpretation, well log data and correlations with formation evaluation analysis to develop reservoir distribution, reservoir quality and trap definition scenarios 
•    Experience in placement of  drill well locations and drilling sequence to optimize economic recovery potential and field development scenarios 
•    Field/Asset Stewardship - Identify, characterize, and mature drilling or well workover opportunities 
•    Participate in the commercial evaluation of opportunities, determine priorities and actions 
•    Manage opportunities from initial concept to drilling (acreage capture, new drills, rig-lines, re-entries, work-overs, etc.)
•    Evaluate post-drill results and quantify impact to development strategy and asset reserves to narrow the range of development scenarios and reserves uncertainty
•    Prediction of dynamic recovery and  connectivity analysis to understand the distribution of compartments and flow units with integration of dynamic data
•    Experience in participation of building reservoir models to address multiple possible development scenarios, to inform changes to well spacing/flood patterns, modifications to wellbore design and completion strategies. Ability to Integrate new data (e.g., technical studies, new seismic, well results, core, SCAL) and incorporation into reservoir model updates and subsequent depletion plans
•    Field reserves assessment skills for planning and reporting purposes
•    Understand key engineering value drivers for opportunity development, knowledgeable on surveillance, simulation and completion methodologies

Job Requirements

•    Russian citizenship or authorized documentation to work in The Russian Federation
•    Candidates should have a BS, MA/MS and /or PhD degree from a recognized university in Geology, Geophysics, Engineering or Physics (or related fields)
•    Demonstrated record of hands-on industry experience in opportunity generation in support of upstream oil and gas operations, minimum of 5 years industry experience required
•    Knowledge of rock property analysis, 4D seismic interpretation, DHI analysis, seismic inversion, seismic processing, well log analysis will be an advantage 
•    Experience with one or more seismic interpretation and geophysical analysis software suites
•    Strong computational and analytical skills
•    Willing to travel periodically – Domestic, Offshore and International
•    Good communication skills in English and Russian
