This Operations and Mechanical (O&M) position requires pre-employment testing. Job Summary
  • The Corrosion Technician position is responsible for oversight and regulatory compliance of the cathodic protection applications associated with pipelines, tanks and other pipeline facilities.
  • The Corrosion Technician is responsible for coordinating and performing electrical maintenance and repairs of cathodic protection equipment in the assigned geographic area of responsibility
  • The position typically works an eight hour shift, Monday – Friday but may be expected to work overtime and/or respond to emergency call-outs as needed.
Primary Job Functions
  • Maintain and monitor cathodic protection systems; responsible for associated documentation
  • Maintain and monitor internal corrosion control systems; responsible for associated documentation
  • Conduct atmospheric, span, air to soil, and corrosion-under-insulation inspections; responsible for associated documentation
  • Troubleshoot areas of non-compliance
  • Recommend remedial action based on troubleshooting; develop and execute projects
  • Coordinate and oversee contractors assigned to remediation/repair projects, corrosion assessments and surveys, and excavations to validate corrosion anomalies from inspections
  • Install, maintain and monitor corrosion coupons
  • Advise on corrosion inhibitor type and injection rates and make recommendations as necessary
  • Maintain compliance with applicable corrosion control regulations and Company requirements
  • Interface with regulatory agencies during audits and inspections
Job Requirements

  • Able to operate laptop computer remotely and use Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and work with graphical applications and various third party databases
  • Work both indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures
  • Willing and able to occasionally travel and work away from home
  • Maintain valid driver’s license and possess safe driving skills
  • Operate hand tools or other pipeline equipment to accomplish assigned tasks
  • Work in the proximity of various hydrocarbon products, electrical circuits, and machinery
  • Required to work in trenches and confined spaces
  • Develop and write various maintenance and work procedures
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
  • 3 - 5 years Corrosion experience or degree equivalent
  • NACE CP1 (Cathodic Protection Tester) certification or greater
  • Corrosion control fundamentals including NACE standard practices and test methods
  • Professional communication style and demeanor; able to communicate in both verbal and written form to various levels of the organization and with contractors and landowners
  • Knowledge of PCS (Pipeline Compliance Systems), Branch: CPDM - Cathodic Protection Data Management
  • Effective time management
  • Strong audit and controls orientation
