ExxonMobil in China

ExxonMobil has a long history in China dating back to 1892 when its predecessor Standard Oil began marketing kerosene to light the Mei Foo lamps at Chinese homes. Today, ExxonMobil’s business portfolio in China spans the full spectrum of the industry, from upstream to downstream, chemicals and technology center.
ExxonMobil has a long-term commitment to China through investments, products, technologies and partnerships, helping meet China’s growing demand for energy and petrochemical products.

Lubricants

ExxonMobil also markets automotive, commercial and industrial lubricants in China under the Mobil brand. Two state-of-the-art lubricant plants are located in Tianjin and Taicang, Jiangsu Province, and expansions were completed in 2014 and 2016 respectively.
In 2020, ExxonMobil, Tencent, Tuhu and a distribution holding company formed a joint venture to establish an integrated ‘supply to business to consumers’ car care network. The joint venture will grow the Mobil-branded car care network in China and leverage the strength of all partners to provide a high quality, branded, and digitally-enabled comprehensive car maintenance experience.
