ExxonMobil is recruiting students for a position located in the Information Technology department in St. John’s, Canada. 


The successful candidate with be working at the ExxonMobil Canada East office with the local Information Technology Customer Experience team. Activities will include working with the business line on productivity solutions, supporting the implementation of locally sponsored applications and coordinating back office technology upgrades in support of our Hibernia and Hebron operations. 


The local team provides a wide variety of support to the local business line, in conjunction with the central support teams and there is ample opportunity to leverage various IT skills in the role from software development to architecture & design to cloud & on premise infrastructure, while developing you people skills working closely with our business partners. 

Qualifications

 

Academic:

  • 3rd or 4th year Computer/Electrical/Software Engineering, Computer Science or Information Systems students interested in a career in Information Technology returning to university and/or 3rd or 4th year Chemical/Petroleum/Mechanical Engineering degree students interested in a career in Engineering and Information Technology returning to university
  • Prior internship in oil industry is preferred, but not required
  • To be considered for employment, your most recent unofficial transcript(s) must be submitted with your application

 

Other:

  • Scripting and programming knowledge
  • Infrastructure as a service experience is an asset
  • Knowledge of SharePoint web development is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal, listening, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment to accomplish organizational goals
  • Demonstrate sound analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Highly motivated individual able to work with minimum supervision
  • Capability to rapidly learn and apply new IT technologies and then to teach and train others
  • Flexibility in dealing with changing priorities and short deadlines
  • Process/detailed oriented, strong ability to prioritize tasks and organize work

Work term: 12 months preferred, 8 months considered

Eligibility to work in Canada
