Come be part of the Asset Technical Department of ExxonMobil Canada Energy. Our offices are located on the East Coast of Canada in St. John’s, Newfoundland with a workforce of nearly 250 people and two world class offshore production assets.

What role you will play in our team

 

  • Maximize asset value through integrated production surveillance & optimization from reservoir to sales point, working across functional boundaries
  • Provide daily technical support to Operations & Maintenance, identifying production and injection system constraints and production uplift opportunities
  • Support the Asset Team in meeting the expectations defined in ExxonMobil’s Upstream Production Best Practices

What you will do

 

  • Responsible for daily surveillance of asset level KPI’s vs targets and focused surveillance of key wells and/or equipment based on identified performance issues or opportunities
  • Identify, evaluate & prioritize short-cycle Production Optimization opportunities across the production system by comparing performance to expectations, working with operations to optimize production daily to constraints (e.g. well mix changes, choke/artificial lift setting changes, system pressure adjustments - within defined operating limits)
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities to remove constraints and ensure they are ranked on the asset opportunity list based on value (e.g. wellwork, facility debottlenecking); steward individual opportunity progress and ensure learnings are captured and shared
  • Coordinate well start-ups with Operations, Facilities, Reservoir, and Wells Engineering
  • Coordinate sampling programs / data collection activities between the technical and offshore teams
  • Responsible for annual update of asset limit diagram and operability limits matrix, with input from cross-functional team to ensure current operating constraints are represented
  • Responsible for coordination of well tests, well test validation, allocation factor monitoring, and troubleshooting allocation calculation issues
  • Responsible for asset volume loss categorization
  • Responsible for ensuring automated Production Optimization workflows are maintained 
  • Lead development of weekly production report and production plan, monthly volume reconciliation, quarterly forward volume estimate and 6-month forecast update, with input from other functions as needed
  • Support various corporate, regulatory and other external reporting requirements
  • Participate in key cross-functional reviews of production & injection performance, such as wellbore utility and field performance reviews
  • Provide coverage for Lead Production Engineer as required

About you

 

Skills and Qualifications

 

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Process or another accredited engineering discipline in Canada
  • 3-10 years of relevant experience

 

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience

 

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively participate in cross functional teams
  • Effectively interface with field operations and other technical functions
  • Flexibility and willingness to respond to field call-outs or emergencies
  • General knowledge of both surface & subsurface production facilities and operations, with competency growth to occur in the role
