What role you will play in our team

 

ExxonMobil is currently recruiting for an Apprentice Instrumentation Technician to work in the maintenance department on the Hebron Platform.  This is a permanent staff position on a world-class facility and will be working alongside some of the most talented technical professionals in the industry. The position is rotational (3 weeks on/3 weeks off) working offshore Newfoundland and Labrador and will require you to travel offshore via helicopter or supply vessel.

The role of an Instrumentation / Analyzer Maintenance Technician is to provide the functional, day-to-day maintenance support and surveillance of unit instrumentation and/or analyzer equipment. The Instrumentation / Analyzer Maintenance Technician must master an effective working knowledge of safe work practices (both general operating unit safe work practices as well as specific safe work practices applicable to instrumentation and/or analyzers). 

What you will do

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop thorough working knowledge of assigned instrumentation and/or analyzers, operating limits, and under-lying equipment strategies
  • Obtain certifications as may be required to support specific equipment, or OEM warranty provisions, etc. as may be required.
  • Develop thorough working knowledge of and demonstrate strict adherence to safe work practices.
  • Comply with operating unit safe work standards (Lock-Out / Tag-Out), Management of Change, Procedure compliance, etc.
  • Conduct assigned surveillance / maintenance responsibilities adhering to PM and general equipment strategy requirements
  • May involve developing and/or executing maintenance plans to isolate equipment for maintenance or return to service
  • Monitor equipment, look for unusual conditions or measurements, support optimization and trouble-shooting activities

About you

 

Skills and Qualifications

 

  • Technical Diploma or trade certification specializing in Instrumentation and controls systems or related field.
  • High school Diploma 
  • Must complete mandatory Offshore Safety Training and meet basic physical job requirements required for offshore work and travel.

 

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience

 

  • Strong communication skills, including interface with internal and external stakeholders and contractors 
  • Commitment to safety on and off the job 
  • Excellent computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications 
  • Ability to work with a minimal supervision and in a team-based environment 
  • Previous petroleum industry experience is considered beneficial, but not essential 
  • Demonstrated leadership and strong academic skills 
  • Initiative, independence and accountability for tasks and understanding impacts on the business
