What Role You Will Play In Our Team

Exxon Mobil Corporation is looking for an attorney with experience handling trade laws compliance matters (e.g., sanctions, export controls and customs compliance). The attorney will work independently with supervision that is appropriate for the attorney’s level of experience.

 

What Will You Do

  • Provide strategic legal counsel on trade compliance matters (e.g., sanctions, export controls, and customs) to Exxon Mobil Corporation and its global affiliates
  • Act as a legal subject matter expert on trade compliance matters 
  • Identify emerging trade compliance issues, assess risks, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Lead and support regulatory advocacy efforts, including agency engagement and associated licensing
  • Develop and steward trade compliance trainings
  • Conduct and oversee internal trade compliance investigations and reviews
  • Drive continuous improvement of the trade compliance program
  • Promote a culture of integrity and ethical behavior across the organization

 

About You

Skills and Qualifications

 

•    J.D. from an accredited law school
•    Strong college and law school record (top 1/3 of class preferred)
•    License to practice law in at least one state (Texas preferred)
•    Demonstrated experience in trade laws compliance (e.g., sanctions, export controls, customs)
•    Relevant experience in a corporate, law firm or government agency setting (e.g., OFAC, BIS and/or CBP) handling trade laws compliance matters and related internal investigations 
•    Strategic thinker with sound judgment and the ability to manage risk in a complex, global environment 
•    Proven ability to advise senior leadership on sensitive, high-impact matters
•    High ethical standards and professional integrity
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•    Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate within a diverse, global team
•    Client-focused approach to risk-management and problem-solving
•    Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed

 

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience


•    At least 7 years legal experience preferred
•    Experience in a global/multi-jurisdictional corporate structure is preferred
