Systems Completion Engineer

Job Summary

The Systems Completion Engineer will provide leadership in the development and implementation of Systems Completion processes to ensure effective completion, commissioning, handover, start-up and continuous operations of major world-wide oil and gas facilities, both upstream and downstream.

Primary Job Functions
  • Act as a safety champion by promoting safety awareness and safe performance among colleagues, Project teams, and contractors at all times
  • Supports development of project planning deliverables during Select and Define stage by providing expertise for input to Contract development, Project Systems Completion Philosophy, Systems Completion Specifications, and Systems Completion Plan
  • Provides input to project management, engineering, and construction to ensure startup requirements are incorporated into project activities, including review of project design and construction to ensure operability and operating personnel safety Instruct new project teams on the Systems Completion process including commissioning and start-up philosophy
  • Serve as part time Systems Completions Engineer on projects prior to full time Project team
  • Provide guidance and leadership to multiple world-scale projects to ensure that the project teams are properly supported with early plans, processes, and tools to safely and effectively complete the progression through design, construction, commissioning, and start-up
  • Reviews, comment, and approves key deliverables on assigned projects; including commissioning sequence, systems completion strategy, composition of systems completion team, start-up schedule, testing plans, and budget
  • Prior to commissioning and  start-up; ensure construction completion and team readiness for activities, and be a critical on-call support resource when activities commence
  • Identify project issues / risks related to Systems Completions on Project teams and drive resolution
  • Maintain relationships and collaborate with industry bodies and contractors (EPC, Commissioning Services, Vendors such as SCDB) to high grade work products
  • Complete special studies, projects and assignments as needed
  • Keeps abreast of technological developments, tools, and trends in commissioning/start-up in the industry
  • Adhere to all EM business control requirements
  • Future progressive assignments may include start-up lead and start-up manager roles on Projects
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Engineering discipline from a recognized university or equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum of 10years of experience in Systems Completion processes (Quality Control, Mechanical Completion, Commissioning, Start-Up)  or similar engineer/project execution positions, preference to prior experience in the oil & gas industry
  • Ideally will have cradle –to-grave experience of a full, multi-year project execution lifecycle starting from FEED and concluding in a successful start-up
  • In-depth knowledge of Project Completions activities:
  • Commissioning standards, specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria
  • Brownfield, Greenfield, and Offshore facilities start-up and operations
  • Rigorously structured, systematic approaches to world-scale project commissioning and operations management planning
  • Broad knowledge of industry standards and related work processes
  • Strong understanding of project management and execution, engineering, construction, commissioning and completion practices
  • Must understand the SSH&E considerations required during Commissioning & Start-Up including SIMOPS
  • High level of personal and professional integrity. Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills, able to manage self and lead others in diverse work teams, environments
  • Knowledge and some experience working with Systems Completion Database software
  • Strong organization, coordination, planning, and interface skills
  • Able to work well with others in a fast-changing environment. Natural ability to adjust communication style in different stages of a Project to diverse audiences including a multi-national workforce
  • Willing and able to travel (domestic and international) as required to support global operations
  • Strong interest in expatriate assignments or rotations offshore to support commissioning and start-up phases in the Projects’ portfolio
