Job Role Summary


This individual will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to ExxonMobil’s Upstream production affiliates and capital projects in the area of surface facilities engineering design and execution. Candidates for this position must have significant broad-based experience in the selection, design, fabrication, start-up, operation and maintenance of process plants and production facilities. Additionally, candidates for this position must have project engineering management level experience that includes responsibility for engineering budget development, execution and stewardship. This position requires working level knowledge of process and production facility system components and typical discipline-specific design deliverables. This position further requires working level knowledge of project scheduling techniques and tools as well as progress measurement systems. Project activities in which participation may be expected include design reviews, risk assessments, HAZOPs, contractor/vendor bid evaluations, quality audits, progress assessments, engineering schedule development, and project readiness reviews. The Senior Facilities Engineer must be capable of performing technical work with limited technical and administrative supervision. This individual also must be capable of overseeing the work of less experienced personnel.

Job Role Responsibilities


• Supports facilities engineering needs across the Upstream Facilities organization
    + Conducts detailed evaluations to address technical design issues
    + Provides engineering execution expertise and support
    + Provides equipment specification and procurement support
    + Provides pertinent engineering expertise to identify and address engineering design and execution performance issues
    + Reviews and advises on contractor deliverables as requested to ensure compliance with project specifications
    + Participates in design reviews, risk assessments, HAZOPs, vendor qualification, quality audits, and contractor/vendor bid evaluations as requested
• Provides technical mentorship to less experienced engineers
• Proactively and continuously grows discipline’s expertise in pertinent technologies and engineering execution methods

Expected Level of Proficiency


• Bachelor of Science Degree in a related Engineering Discipline
• At least 15 years of closely related professional experience of which:
    + At least 5 years of this experience must involve Upstream crude oil and natural gas production facilities such as wellheads, production platforms, Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels, crude oil and natural gas separation/treatment facilities and LNG production plants
    + At least 5 years of this experience must be at the engineering leadership level on an upstream project in the oil and gas industry
• Possess good knowledge of engineering verification and equipment design audit requirements
• Capable of verifying work is consistent with good design practices, realistic operating assumptions, and low lifecycle costs
• Capable of developing detailed equipment specifications included pre-commissioning, testing, and assessing vendor qualifications and quality programs
• Capable of developing procedures for testing, installation, commissioning, and startup
• Capable of developing requirements for operating, maintenance, and inspection procedures
• Familiarity with commercially available 3D Modeling programs such as PDMS, PDS, E3D, S3D and Navisworks
• Willing and able to travel as required, both domestically and internationally
• Effective leadership skills, including ability to influence with no direct formal authority
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team in a multicultural environment
• Adaptability to time pressures and rapidly changing priorities
• Well organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
