What Role You Will Play In Our Team
Exxon Mobil Corporation is seeking an attorney to provide advice and counsel regarding labor and employment legal matters with a focus on managing employment litigation. The attorney will handle a variety of matters and work independently with supervision that is appropriate for the attorney’s level of experience.
What Will You Do
- Actively manage litigation matters and steward litigation strategy, with an emphasis on employment and related business disputes.
- Advise business clients regarding potential litigation risks, strategies, and damages related to employment discrimination laws, employee benefits disputes, contract, tort, non-compete/non-solicitation, and other legal and equitable remedies, as well as direct and oversee court filings and attend appearances in proceedings.
- Support and supervise outside counsel as appropriate
- Provide advice regarding the implications of new or existing employment laws substantially impacting the Company
- Provide legal analysis and counsel on employment matters including, but not limited matters involving Title VII, ADEA, ADA, FMLA, ERISA, and FLSA
- Advise clients in conducting employment-related investigations and support investigations of charges of discrimination filed with the EEOC and prepare position statements on behalf of the Company
- Prepare and review presentations and other documents associated with the above matters
About You
Skills and Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Strong college and law school class performance (top 1/3 of class preferred)
- Licensed to practice law in at least one state (Texas Bar membership strongly preferred)
- Strong research and writing skills
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills
- Reputation for high ethical standards and integrity
- Strong analytical skills and ability to exercise sound business judgmentAbility to work independently but also as a member of an integrated legal team to contribute collaboratively
- Ability to travel as needed
- Ability to work effectively with a highly diverse, global law department
- Minimum of five (5) years of legal experience, all (or substantially all) of which is in the area of labor and employment law in a law firm, corporation, agency, or court/judicial clerkship is strongly preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience litigating Labor and Employment matters is strongly preferred
