Job Role Summary


ExxonMobil Upstream Research Company has an immediate opening for an experienced fracture modeler to perform hydraulic fracturing research in the area of Unconventional Oil and Gas development. The position will require the selected individual to be working in a dynamic environment with an integrated multi-disciplinary teams including geoscientists, reservoir engineers, operations engineers to support fracture modeling and diagnostics technology development. The position will be located in Spring, TX.

Job Role Responsibilities


  • Research, assess, and develop new fracture modeling technologies, tools and workflows for Unconventional applications
  • Conduct fracture modeling / field studies to demonstrate and apply newly developed technologies and workflows

Expected Level of Proficiency


Candidates should be self-motivated and focused on achieving business results while working in a multi-disciplinary team. Demonstrated teamwork, communication and leadership skills are essential. Technical skill requirements are as follows:


  • Ph.D. degree in Engineering, Applied and Computational Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field with graduate work in numerical modeling of fractures or a relevant solid mechanics area
  • Knowledge of numerical fracture modeling approaches and their application limits
  • Knowledge of analytical fracture theories is a plus
  • 5+ years of industry experience in Upstream O&G industry focused on stimulation design & hydraulic fracture modeling to optimize development plan for unconventional wells
  • Experience with Machine learning is a plus
  • Demonstrated proficiency in commercial hydraulic fracture modeling Softwares such as Kinetix, ResFrac or others
  • Exposure to integrated fracture and reservoir modeling is a plus
  • Experience in using programming languages such as Python, C++, MATLAB
  • Knowledge in unconventional field-scale diagnostics is a plus
