About Houston
ExxonMobil's state-of-the-art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors.

What role you will play in our team
The Cost Engineer in Procurement/Business Enablement will be responsible for developing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for projects at various stages, from early concept to booking. This role involves preparing and presenting business value opportunities, providing insights and recommendations to enhance procurement strategies and value. The Cost Engineer will lead cost engineering projects, perform data analysis, conduct studies such as internal/external benchmarks, should-cost analyses, TCOs, and indexation models, and provide recommendations for cost reductions, cost avoidance, and business enhancements. Collaboration with cross-functional global teams and effective communication with stakeholders are essential. Additionally, the role supports continuous improvement of procurement processes. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in engineering, experience in costing, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects.

What you will do
- Lead the communications and internal customer management with the Category (ies)
- Develop cost estimates for projects at various stages, from early concept to booking
- Prepare and present business value opportunities, providing insights and recommendations to enhance procurement strategies and val
- Lead cost engineering projects, perform data analysis, conduct studies such as internal/external benchmarks, should-cost analyses, TCOs, and indexation models, and provide recommendations for cost reductions, cost avoidance, and business enhancements
- Support continuous improvement process projects

About you
Skills and Qualifications
- 5 years of prior experience being 2 years in costing or analytical roles
- Oil & Gas / Energy experience
- Strong understanding of cost estimating techniques and tools to evaluate competitiveness
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
Technical Skills
- Cost Estimation: Experience in developing accurate cost estimates using various methodologies
- Financial Analysis: Ability to analyze financial data, understand spend, profit margins, and perform cost-benefit analyses.
- Project Management: Knowledge of project management principles, including planning, scheduling, etc.
- Engineering Principles: Understanding of engineering concepts and practices related to the industry (e.g., construction, manufacturing).
- Software Proficiency desired: Tableau, Power BI, SharePoint, SQL
Analytical Skills
- Data Analysis: Strong analytical skills to interpret complex data sets and extract meaningful insights.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions.
- Accuracy: High attention to detail to ensure precise cost estimation and reporting, minimizing errors and discrepancies.
Communication Skills
- Verbal Communication: Strong oral communication skills to convey technical information effectively to stakeholders, including non-technical audiences. Facilitates meetings and discussions to address concerns and provide updates.
- Written Communication: Proficiency in writing clear and concise reports, proposals, and project documentation.
Negotiation Skills
- Contract Negotiation: Ability to negotiate contracts with suppliers and stakeholders to achieve the best financial outcomes
- Persuasion: Effective persuasive skills to advocate for cost-saving measures and influence decision-making
Interpersonal Skills
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including procurement, finance, and engineering
- Relationship Management: Skills to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Prioritization: Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively to meet project timelines
- Training: Provide training and support to junior cost engineers and other team members on cost estimation practices and tools
