ExxonMobil Upstream Information Technology (UIT) teams deliver industry-leading business capabilities and computational sciences through proprietary, commercial-grade software. The Azure Infrastructure Engineer position is located in Spring TX and requires active collaboration with internal stakeholders, architects, and developers to deliver cloud infrastructure solutions to ExxonMobil’s Upstream business lines. In this role, you will participate in all aspects of Azure Infrastructure Support including work planning, requirements gathering, deployment, and ongoing support. You will grow and maintain a deep technical expertise in Azure cloud technologies and other automation techniques in the cloud.

Primary Job Description

 

  • Collaborate with engineers, data managers, architects and software developers to define, build, and deliver cloud deployments for our upstream business solutions
  • Incorporate best practices from DevOps and Agile software development, including build/deployment automation (CI/CD), testing automation, and operational monitoring/alerting
  • Use Cloud technology to extract, transform, curate data & to draw inferences that provide value to business
  • Automate and convert manual processes to digital workflows
  • Solving technical challenges that arise when policies or remediation cause conflicts with how customer applications function in Azure

Job Requirements

 

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment with software developers, architects and domain experts
  • Expertise in Azure IaaS and PaaS services
  • Extensive experience with Azure SQL, Azure CLI, Azure Library configuration, and Azure Kubernetes Services
  • Experience building data models and data access layers against either SQL or NoSQL databases
  • Experience building and releasing pipelines using YAML; Knowledge of end to end DevOps practices using tools like Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions 
  • Experience with Terraform and ARM development
  • Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, Web App Firewall Configuration, and DNS
  • Understanding of Azure Management Groups, Subscriptions, Resource Groups and common Resources
  • Experience working in Agile teams, using DevOps practices

Required Experience

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience dealing with Azure or other cloud-based technology deployments
  • Prior work experience in the upstream oil and gas industry (preferred)

Nice to Have Skills

 

  • Good grasp of the REST architectural style and experience implementing REST APIs using ASP.NET Web API (preferred), Node.js, or Flask
  • Familiarity with PowerShell & PowerShell scripting
