What role you will play in our team

 

ExxonMobil is seeking a strategic and collaborative leader to head an integrated asset team responsible for all environmental and regulatory aspects of underground injection control (UIC) across Subsurface, Regulatory, Wells, Global Projects, Development Planning, Public & Government Affairs, and Land.

 

This role is accountable for the full lifecycle of UIC permitting — including Class V, W2, and Class VI — from planning and preparation to submittal, monitoring, and amendment. The successful candidate will drive stretch targets for permit completion, continuously improving quality and turnaround time through regulator feedback and internal alignment.

 

What you will do

 

  • Leading cross-functional coordination to deliver timely and compliant UIC permits.
  • Monitoring regulatory changes and updating stakeholders on implications for permit content and timing.
  • Conducting competitive intelligence on CO₂ injection activities, including approved subsurface methodologies and monitoring plans.
  • Building strong relationships with regulators to influence approval timelines and outcomes.
  • Managing permit amendments and updates with precision and speed.

About you

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Geosciences, or a related technical field.
  • Demonstrated experience in subsurface disciplines (Wells, Geoscience, Reservoir Engineering).
  • Proven track record with CO₂ injection permitting in the U.S. Gulf Coast (USGC) regulatory environment.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to align technical execution with strategic goals.
  • Skilled in operations planning and execution across cross-functional teams.
  • Effective decision-making in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal teams and external regulators.
