ExxonMobil is one of Singapore’s largest foreign manufacturing investors with over S$25 billion in fixed asset investments.

What role you will play in our team

Low Carbon Solutions is working to bring lower-emission technologies to market, making them accessible to hard-to-decarbonize industries worldwide.
In Asia, our activities include marketing our low-carbon ammonia and developing a cross-border carbon capture and storage (CCS) project. The Business Development Advisor, based in Singapore, will be part of a global, multi-disciplinary team that leads commercial and business negotiations, leverages strategic thinking and exceptional communication to deliver these important value-accretive priorities. You will be expected to deliver business results, and can expect increasing levels of responsibility over time. The company provides mentorship, bespoke training and development plans, and the opportunity to build your network to establish your own career path within the broader corporation.
What you will do
- Understand, construct, negotiate, execute and operationalize agreements for the commercialization of new opportunities in Low Carbon Solutions (LCS).
- Mature selected opportunities from inception through to investment decision by:
- Being a key internal interface to ensure alignment and as necessary, obtain endorsements
- Working closely with our projects, public and government affairs, law, finance, marine, supply chain and operations team to advance projects as one ExxonMobil
- Leveraging insights from abovementioned teams to converge on attractive business case, able to integrate commercial, regulatory and technical attributes while progressing opportunities.
- Interface to LCS' customers and stakeholders (government, partners), developing and strengthening relationships and building a deep and diverse network across different parts of the value chain
- Represent ExxonMobil LCS in trade associations, government engagements, as well as partnering with other functional departments for our attendance, and participation at conferences and trade fairs to represent company and network development
- Provide competitive market insights to help support market strategies and analysis.
Identify potentially attractive LCS business opportunities for evaluation across multiple products and value chains (Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), Hydrogen (H2), Ammonia (NH3), and Low Carbon Data Centers)
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s in Business Administration, Masters in Management from a world-class institution
- At least 3-5 years prior experience in
- Corporate Finance (Investment Banking, Private Equity)
- Corporate Development or Business Development (not sales)
- Strategy
- Engineering/ technical
- Candidate should have prior experience working with:
- Creation, comprehension, navigation and manipulation of Excel models
- Creation of presentations of appropriate level of detail for internal management and external partners
- Exposure to review of, and preferably marking up legal agreements, including term sheets and long-forms
- Multi-disciplinary (technical, law, finance, insurance), multi-cultural and international teams across time zones
Preferred Qualifications/ Experience
- Undergraduate degree in engineering, economics, business, finance or climate studies preferred
- Preference (but not necessary) for:
- Some deal execution and prior negotiations experience
- Financial (cash flow) modelling or business case modelling
- Direct experience with oil & gas, power, CCS or H2 value chains
- International experience with joint ventures and other partner frameworks

- Negotiating and influencing: Experience canvassing input from and influencing internal stakeholders, negotiating with external counterparties
- Detail-oriented: Understands intricacies of linkages between economics and commercial, ensures that commercial intent comes through in contracts
- Communication: Effective communicator, with ability to distil key messages and engage with different audiences
- Sector interest: Demonstrated prior interest in energy (incl. clean energy), power (incl. renewables), infrastructure (incl. digital infrastructure), chemicals with some understanding of techno-commercial aspects of large projects
- Ownership: End-to-end ownership of relationships and aspects of projects for which they are responsible
- Behavioral: Collegial, collaborative, adaptable, analytical, proactive
